Adventures at Medical Research and Humanitarian Society (MEDRHUS)

      Medical Research and Humanitarian Society

I am grateful to the executive faculty of the Medical Research and Humanitarian Society for this opening to serve. It has been a continuum of learning and empowering experiences: each member and his/her talent, skill, intelligence and speciality radiating in their respective niche, and coming together to build an evolutionary ecosystem, an energetic community. Indeed, we mean more.

When we dedicate a great chunk of our time and service, stepping out of our comfort zone to reach out to the public, we do so as humanitarians, medical students, and doctors meaning to better the average living standard. This is our little way of creating a space of boundless medical community outreach: bringing the gamut-- research, education, clinical tests and routines-- into indigenous rural areas, into the market Square, church, schools, etc.

We are anti-bystanders to community plights and are convinced everyone should be entitled not only to affordable quality healthcare but also free quality care regardless of their ability to pay out of pocket.

What happens when you are an executive member of two popular medical student Societies, one research focussed and the other humanitarian service focussed... you happen upon crossroads that test your decisiveness.

The clashing invitations by MEDRHUS and her sister medical student association, Medix Frontiers,  to their special events of the year turned out not to be 'mission impossible' as I anticipated. I guess it was the thought of missing out on the rich experience and networking opportunity unique to both events that fired my instinctive ability to be present in two places at once. I started as part of the Organising Committee at the Medix Frontier's Capacity Building Workshop and ended up as a guest at the MEDHRHUS Leadership Forum:

It Has Been More Than An Adventure At MEDHRUS and these are bits of it I want to share with you in this space with a collage. I call it memorabilia.
